Finding the sweet spot between category and business alignment – while balancing the cost of the function and managing peaks and valleys in workload – can be a challenge when designing a procurement organization. GSK Procurement’s vision was to build a high “capability and high capacity” procurement team based in hubs that works to deliver the category’s strategic vision through repeatable, measurable, and value creating sourcing projects. This structure and related processes have enabled category teams able to focus more on the development of truly global category strategies and enabled business-aligned teams to double down on business partnering. Now two years post-launch, the GSK team will share the keys to their success, lessons learned, and their vision for continuously increasing positive business impact.
