Easy Continuous Confidential Data for Supply Chain

5/1/2024, 11:00 AM - 11:50 AM

New hardware based “confidential computing” allows a company to send encrypted data to a cloud computer enclave where it is processed ensuring that no human or program has seen it. Once in the enclave that is invisible to the rest of the computer, the data is decrypted and summed and deleted, enforced by a computational contract that the data provider agrees to. Once in the enclave the data can be matched to other “private unseen” data to map detailed aggregated supply-chains by detailed geography and product. This scales massively and relatively inexpensively on the cloud infrastructure, potentially providing nightly low burden, low-cost mappings of supply-chain activity and bottlenecks. In this session, learn about confidential computing and the new possibilities of data aggregation in the supply chain space.

We all have it. Low dollar, non-strategic, non-critical spend (tail spend) that we don’t have the time or resources to manage well.  So, we ignore it.  This session will focus on how the Las Vegas Valley Water District finally took control of their tail spend during the midst of the pandemic when suppliers refused to honor contract pricing as the supply chain became unpredictable and inflationary pricing pressure increased.  The result has been a remarkable efficiency in obtaining accurate pricing and lead times for much of their tail spend.  Not to mention the achievement of considerable savings in a volatile supply market.
