#ISM2018: Grand Ole Tweets

May 08, 2018

Supply management social-media activity continued to be crowded and creative during the second full day at ISM2018 in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday. That was especially true on Twitter, as attendees, presenters and exhibitors again got a lot of mileage out of the #ISM2018 hashtag.

The biggest dignitary on Tuesday was Christie Breves, C.P.M., chief supply chain officer at U.S. Steel and board member at CAPS Research, the Tempe, Arizona-based program jointly sponsored by Institute for Supply Management® (ISM®) and Arizona State University. Breves is the recipient of the 2018 J. Shipman Gold Medal, which signifies a lifetime of achievement and service in the supply management profession.

While the Shipman Medal honors past and current achievement, the R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program focuses on the future of supply management. Perhaps one of the six recipients recognized at ISM2018 will reach the lofty ground Breves walked on Tuesday.

Tuesday's keynote discussion focused on cybersecurity, featuring two heavy hitters in national security and law enforcement: Gen. Keith Alexander, USA (Ret.), CEO/president of IronNet Cybersecurity and former director of the National Security Agency; and John Brennan, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency. With ISM CEO Thomas W. Derry moderating, the two disussed general cyber issues and such topics as industrial espionage, foreign governments, blockchain and privacy issues.

The insights continued during the breakout sessions across the Conference's six learning tracks.

The Exhibit Hall was again bustling, if the stream of procurement humanity through the just-opened doors was of any indication.

Attendees remained impressed with the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. And while many posts, as usual, have been about the Conference sessions and events, some took to Twitter to simply say and show that they are having a good time.

And finally ... we hope every Conference attendee agrees.
