Shelly leads Aon’s Diversity Solutions practice which is an integrated enterprise economic inclusion strategy engaging colleagues, clients, and partners. He is a catalyst for profitable growth, innovator, value driver and is passionate about investing in underserved communities. He is a charter member of the firm’s Global Inclusive Leadership Council and an Advisory Council member of the Aon Apprenticeship Program.
Through #AonUnited, the latest Aon initiative driving colleague collaboration, he aims to deliver the best of the firm to clients, continuing Aon’s transformation into a leading global professional services firm. Prior to joining the firm, he led Supplier Diversity & Business Development strategies at Johnson Controls’ manufacturing and construction businesses.
His work can be seen in workforce diversity, workplace culture, economic inclusion, and corporate philanthropy. He is a former board director of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), past Chair of the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council (EMSDC). Additionally, his work with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) can be traced to its founding having served on national committees and as a member of the WBENC Board of Directors.
Shelly was as a contributor to the 2012 published Billion Dollar Roundtable’s Supplier Diversity Best Practices: Building Excellence to Improve the Supply-Chain Matrix. His commitment to community can be seen in his work with Habitat for Humanity, where he currently serves on the Lake County, IL affiliate board and is Chair of the Nominations Committee. He serves as Chair of the Publicity Committee for the Village of Riverwoods, IL Caucus Party Nominating Committee.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from William Woods University and has completed Executive Education coursework at Dartmouth College. Having served in the US Army and being decorated for service during Desert Shield and Desert Storm, he is an honorably discharged veteran.
